New Site and Blog Home, In Case You're Wondering

Sometimes I pop over to the Blogger page to read the sites I follow, but have not been using this as a publishing portal for the last few months. Reason being, I've finally redone my portfolio site, and it has the all-in-one function to compose and publish blog posts under my own domain.

So, if you are coming across my posts and wondering why I hate my audience so much to leave them hanging without updates for over a year, it's because my content can now be found at ArgyleBox.com!

I've wanted everything to all stay under one bannerhead ever since I've ventured into freelance graphics in this age of online internetualization, but not being a web designer made it a bit too intimidating for me to tackle all the functions I wanted to have in a website. WordPress has proven me wrong in thinking it would be too much of a headache to accomplish that goal without taking a hiatus to learn the ins and outs of programming and design platforms.

Take a look around, and continue to wonder why I hate my readers so much... because I'm still really bad about sticking to plans to publish blog posts more often than every 3 months... sorry!

I still post on Twitter now and then, posting updates about artwork or when I think of something funny that can be conveyed in a small amount of words. Follow me at @aryglebox if you think you have the nerve!

Gaming on the PC Once Again!

My PC has been running like garbage for over 2 months. Most games and applications that used to fly on high settings would barely run, so I had just resigned to thinking the power supply was going to shit or something and was about to order a new one when I noticed my computer specs were picking up the onboard video card as primary. A quick shut down with the 2nd monitor that was plugged into that card taken out upon rebooting fixed all the problems.

Lovin' the new toy, man. It's like... there's a blue side for each of us and stuff!
I think this is all because the cats were curious when we first got them - they were rolling around behind the desk and dislodged the main monitor cord because the mounting screws on the cord didn't want to fit into the expensive graphics card's adapter, and upon restarting after that it just reassigned the default...

I never knew the PC would assign the default hardware in such a simple way as "were am cord fit first?" Instead of defaulting to whichever was the workhorse.

Anyway yay! I can game on my PC again!

Had a fun go again with Fallout New Vegas with 3D turned on and farting around with all the downloaded content I just figured was a waste since I couldn't run it anymore.

Webpage Being Overhauled - New Blog Location Soon

Thanks to my buddy Barjed, we're going to be helping each other out with some service exchange love; I've been setting him up with art assets for his Windows phone game in development, and he will be taking some web stress off my back by gearing up a CMS that will make the ArgyleBox home site a fit-all place to fit blogging, portfolio, contact forms, etc. so I can finally fit into a modern web look. Because I'm all draw and no byte, the web development front of promoting myself as an artist has always been a little jarring, so this will be a boon to my ability to connect with peers and clients and not look like an illegitimate geocities fan site.

In the meantime, I used up a few of my McGuyver tool kits to ooze out a temporary page with some sample art pieces, contact information, and an updated resume. You can find it here.

No Updates? The Downfall of Productivity!

Prompted by @photonstorm's reminder that I haven't posted anything here in a dinosaur's age, I'll toss in some recent artwork and a little update for the sake of keeping me socially published.

Been so busy with exciting new things such as making sprites for a few games in development as well as the overall design of two additional titles.  Most of them are targetted for mobile platforms and won't be epic, huge, world-endingly rich in original content, but it's still enough to keep me from visiting the blog.  I'll be the first to admit this default-themed page with its text-only header really amazingly represents my skill as an artist, but hopefully I will find a moment to finish up the portfolio site, touch up and update the blogging front, and share some more game info as the availability to do so opens up. Half afraid of putting up a legitimately finished portfolio for fear that I will start having to turn down even more work because I'm up to my ears with artwork gigs without even having the bloody thing done!

For now, things have been trapped up on one game, so I'm going to post some indescript art involving some things I'm involved with and not say anything beyond that.

Oh yeah, I suppose I never mentioned that the flash/iOS game I did the character spriting on, Crouching Monkey, Hidden Chow, for the release of the movie Hangover Part II with the great guys of Soap Creative was released some time ago

Also did a lot of character animations for the 8-bit music video for "We Come Together" by Goldfish under the awesome animator Mike Scott.  A recent post by Mike announced that the video has already reached over 1 million views.  Great times! Here are a few assets I put into it, not gonna post them all, but I do want to post up just enough of them into one block of space to be browser shattering with all the simultaneous GIF playback.

Wow, I really haven't updated this in a long time, I can't even remember what I haven't mentioned yet because so much did.  Hell... I MOVED three months ago and, simultaneously, went fulltime freelance (quite the day job I did for 2 years at the local newspaper doing layout and ad design for breadcrumbs), and even got my first smart phone (finally) last month.

I'm going to have to update this more just so I don't feel more confused than that guy from Memento. *scatters a trail of evernote postings behind him so he doesn't forget where he was before he entered the bathroom...*
